Nocturne in Black & Gold

In the 1870s, Whistler painted his now famous “Falling Rocket”. Rich and subtle black is the receding backdrop for this dark yet luminous interior. Sparkling metallics and gentle accents of tertiary violet, blue and olive cast a sophisticated and muted glow.
